Frequently Asked Questions

What is the cost?

With the exception of packages or intensives, sessions are billed by the hourly rate of the clinician. Please see the Our Team page to find each clinician’s rate. All package and intensive costs are located on the Services Offered page. More information on cost can be addressed below and you are always welcome to reach out for further details or with questions.

What can I expect during my first session?

All initial consults are 1.5 hours for clients 15yo+. The purpose of this initial consult is to gather the client’s history and information on the presenting issues. Our time together will also include psychoeducation on the practice policies, models to be used, and a projected treatment plan you can expect.

For minors (under 18yo), our protocol is holding this 1.5 hour session with the caregivers prior to seeing the client. The purpose of this visit is to gather history and information on the presenting issues from the primary adults in their life.

At the completion of the initial consult, your clinician will let you know if they feel that they are a good fit to work with you towards your goals. You also will have the opportunity to decide if you wish to continue your work with this clinician, or prefer to be referred to someone who may be a better fit.

How long are therapy sessions?

While it is standard practice in many counseling offices to schedule a “therapeutic hour,” (50-minute session), we believe it is often more therapeutic to have the option of a longer visit, and that the client should collaborate in deciding the length of the visit. Options might include 1-hour (recommended for clients under 15yo), 1.5 hours (standard for many adult clients), or longer (this can be an intensive format and often recommended for those seeking an accelerated process).

How often do I need to come to therapy?

This is another area where we believe in the collaboration of client and clinician to reach a therapeutic decision that is in the best interest of the client’s care. Options might include weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or an intensive format (often a one-time experience). This is highly dependent on the needs of each client, the availability of the clinician, and can change throughout the span of your therapy.

Do you accept insurance?

We do not accept insurance. We understand that one of the primary deterrents for those seeking therapy is cost. At Theraspace Collective, we value making quality therapeutic care accessible and are actively making efforts towards supporting this. Do not hesitate to reach out and inquire about our scholarships available should your participation in therapy be limited due to financial accessibility.

What should I do if I need to cancel or reschedule an appointment?

You have options. Reach out to your clinician directly to cancel and/or reschedule, call our office, or make sure to enable text notifications for appointments so that you can directly cancel via text response when needed.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

Therapy can be helpful for a variety of reasons, whether you're feeling overwhelmed by stress, struggling with emotions like anxiety or depression, facing a life transition or traumatic event, or simply seeking personal growth. If you're experiencing difficulties in your relationships or noticing patterns you want to change, therapy can provide valuable support and insight. The decision to begin therapy is a personal one, and it's okay to start even if you're unsure. A consultation can help you determine if therapy is the right step for you.

Do you offer online therapy?

At this time, clinicians who are licensed are only permitted to do so in the state in which their license is held. That said, our team members who are licensed are able to hold sessions in the state of Georgia via in-person OR Telehealth visits. Our team members who are not licensed, but acting in various other roles such as pastoral counselors, are permitted to counsel via in-person AND Telehealth, regardless of state lines.

How is faith implemented in therapy?

At Theraspace Collective, we see humans as a collection of parts—mind, body, and spirit— that should be treated with a collective of approaches. We approach the spirit from a convictional lens that is gospel-centered. We understand not all clients are seeking a faith-based approach to be a primary experience in their therapy, or that their lens may differ from ours. We aim to create a space that is safe for you no matter if you come seeking a directly gospel-centered approach or prefer a gentle explorative approach. Ultimately, this is the client’s choice and you hold autonomy in the degree to which your therapy experience is faith-based and ultimately if our clinicians are the best fit for you and your needs.
